Each year the John Baldwin Cougar Education Fund (“CEF”) selects a program which requires special attention and funding. Fund-A-Need is a very special part of our annual auction that gives the community a chance to rally around a particular need at John Baldwin and help enrich the teaching and learning environment at our school. At this year's auction, we are asking the John Baldwin community to continue to support our school’s technological needs.
Be part of our community effort to support technology at John Baldwin! Technology gives our children the opportunity to learn in a different way as well as permit them to go beyond John Baldwin and Danville. It can help develop curiosity, self-reliance and can launch a child on a wonderful adventure into a fact-finding mission in a new area of interest.
This is not just a CEF project. For the last couple of years our school’s PTA, Site Council, teachers and staff members have been evaluating how new and better technology can enhance each child’s experience at John Baldwin. Based on this evaluation, the teachers and staff members created a wish list recounting some of the most exciting and innovative ways technology can better prepare our children for the 21st century.
The CEF, along with the PTA and Site Council, would like to make all of these wishes come true. Already these organizations have purchased some of the prioritized items, but more money is needed to fully commit to all of these needs. For example, thanks to the PTA, CEF, and Site Council within the last year, our school was able to provide laptops for every teacher, 26 Student Laptops along with a Cart On Wheels (“COW”), 30 iPads, specialized technological equipment for JBTV, 10 SuccessMaker licenses and teacher training.
Your donation to this year’s Fund-A-Need will go directly to making sure that our students have continued access to all of this amazing technology, and will be able to fund other things on the wish list like additional iPads to accommodate a growing excitement for use in the classrooms.
